Tourism in Nepal

In Nepal Tourism is the largest industry , and the largest source of foreign exchange and revenue. Consisting 8 of the 10 highest mountains in the world, Nepal is a hotspot destination for mountaineers, rock climbers and people seeking adventures. There is Hindu and Buddhist heritage of Nepal, and its cold weather which are also strong attractions.
Nepal is the country of the  Mount Everest, the highest mountain peak in the world, is located. Mountaineering and other types of adventure tourism and ecotourism are important attractions for visitors. The  birth place of Gautama Buddha,Lumbini is located in southern Nepal, and there are other important religious pilgrimage sites throughout the country.
The government of Nepal has declared 2012 to be Lumbini Visit Year, and hopes to attract one million foreign tourists to the country during that year.
